The Answer Key:
Sr No Question Answer Remarks 2 What is the elementary constituent of electricty? electron Electron is the basic constituent. The electrons are one of the constituent of atom which consists of neutron and proton. Electron rotates round the nucleus. There are some electrons which are free to leave the atom and are called free electron. These free electrons makes the current to flow. If in any substance, the free electrons are absent, the electricity will not flow. 3 “——” is the electricity which does not move. static Static electricity is the accumulation of charge at one place and the charge does not move. 4 What makes the baloon sometime sticks to the wall? static electricity When a baloon is rubbed on the shirt, the baloon surface got charged and when it is taken to the wall, its surface get opposite charge and get attracted to the wall surface 5 “——” is having very large number of free electrons. Conductor Conductor have large free electron which starts moving under the influence of electric field 6 Which substance is having very high insulation capacity used in electric installations? backalite Bakelite is called an insulator and used in electric ciruit so that the electron does not escapte from the intended path 7 Which material is used for transfer of current from one place to another in your house? Copper Copper is the best insulator and possess the properties which are very use full making conductors like flexibility, ductility, strength, conductivity, life etc. 8 What electrodes were used in the first battery invented by Alessandro Volta? Copper and Zinc Alessandro Volta make the first cell with copper and zinc has electrode and sodium chloride solution. The transfer of electon from one electrode to another led to flow of electricity when both the electrodes were connected together. 9 In initial stage, Davy discovered —————using very large battery. discovery of more elements such as sodium, barium, calcium etc Humphry Davy was a chemist who with the use of flow of current in a circuit discovered many other metals. 10 In making battery connection, positive terminal of one cell is connected to the negative terminal of the next cell Electricty will flow from ;postive to negative or negative to positive terminal. For battery not to drain, sometime postive cell polarity is reversed i..e. postive connected to positive. 11 Where can the key or switch be placed in the circuit? Any of the above Switch makes the connection or disconnection in the flow of current and can placed anywhere. 12 Our body is ———of electric current. conductor Our body is a conductor of electricity since it contain water, live cells which conduct electricty. If we are standing with rubber insulation in our shoe, we will not get shock otherwise it can be fatel. 13 For making a cell using lemon, which acid or base is containing the lemon? Citric Acid Lemon contains citric acid and a copper coin and nail coated with zinc. The connection with eight lemon connected in series can light a LED. 14 What is Ampere? It is the unit to measure current? The lemon contains citric acid and acts a solution for conduction of electron. 15 How will you connect four cells to get the maximum current? all four in series If you want high currnet, connect the cells in parallel and in series if requires high voltage. if connected two in series and two in parallel you get double current as well as double voltage. 16 How an ammeter works? when current flows through a coil lying in a permanent magnet, it rotates depending on the amount of current The coil rotates depending on the current flowing throgh it due to magnatic field of permanent magnet. 17 What type of electric supply you get in your house? Alternating Current (AC) You get in your house alternating current. Direct current is produced in a cell. Your car battery also gives direct current. 18 In a symbol of a cell, which terminal is thicker as compared to other? negative terminal Negative termial is made thicker as compared to other. The length of the termianl of postive is more as compared to negative. 19 What is electric charge? It is accumulation of electron at one point Accumulation of electron results in charge. In case the charge of one electron is’ e’ and number of electrons are ‘n’, then the total charge is ‘ne’ 20 What is the speed of electric current flow in a conductor? Speed of light The application of voltage accross the terminal results in a electric field, and the electron at the terminal starts moving but the electric field moves at a speed of light. -
